Good story, Not enough for a whole film
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Such a delicate subject dealt in very matured manner is amazing . Kudos.
I appreciate a movie that gives another side to the story, regardless of the topic. I highly recommend watching and thinking. And then thinking some more - about not just this topics, but other topics that can tailspin. I appreciate a movie that gives another side to the story, regardless of the topic. It's not a new story that is told here, but it is told with impressive subtlety. A small town in Denmark, full of nice people in a perfect cliché community, and yet a small lie, taken back repeatedly over time, shatters the life of one of its members. There is not one person to blame for what happens, to point your finger at. Mainly, people just do what they think is their duty of protection. The oversteps are small and subtle at first, some prejudgment kicks in, things evolve inevitably. Later, of course, there are also those expressing themselves in what they think is justified violence. Isn't it all so obvious and realistic? Wouldn't we be part of it if were happening at our doorstep? This is one of those movies that make you think: it's what cinema is all about!
This is Mads Mikkelsen at his best! This is one of those rare occasions where the piece of art truly touches your soul, goes through your skin and lets your bones vibrate like church bells. The main theme is rape and I am so glad that they figured out how to really bring this topic so interesting and excellent to the table. I have probably never seen a more realistic movie than this one. It has not the characteristics of a movie classic; There re no extremely memorable scenes, there is no excellent dialogue and there are no stunts or action sequences, neither is there romance. What makes this movie so realistic (but also heartbreaking) is the fact that it doesn't do much on a sociological basis. It answers no questions, it offers no solutions and it proposes no schemes. It just tells the story excellently and lets you personally think, how you can change that. A Oscar worthy Mads Mikkelsen and a intriguing and mesmerizing story still make up for one of the best movies of the 2010's, hell even of all time.
